Privacy Policy

Who we are

howai.si is an independent directory of AI tools in English, Spanish and Portuguese. It is operated by oora (weareoora.com), a company based in the United States (OORA LLC, 231 S. Bemiston Road, Suite 850, Saint Louis, MO 63105, USA), and curated by Carlos J. Tilly. In this policy, "we" means oora and howai.si.

What we collect

Only what you choose to give us:

• Newsletter: your email address when you subscribe.
• Contact form: your name, email, the topic you pick and your message.
• Tool claims and update suggestions: your name, email, your role, what you tell us about the tool, and a hashed (scrambled) version of your IP address, which we use to spot spam and abuse. We can't turn the hash back into your IP address.
• Accounts (coming soon): if you sign in with X, Google or an email link, we receive your handle or display name, email address and profile picture from that service, as far as you allow it.
• Your stack (coming soon): the tools you pick and the short notes you write. This stays private until we approve it, and only then does it become public.

Like most websites, our hosting provider also processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, so the site can load and stay secure.

Why we use it

If you are in the EU, the UK or Brazil, our legal grounds are your consent (newsletter, account), our need to respond to what you ask of us, and our legitimate interest in running a safe, useful site.

• To send you the newsletter, only if you subscribed.
• To answer your messages and review your claims or suggestions.
• To run your account and show your stack once approved.
• To keep the site secure and stop spam.
• To understand, in general terms, how the site is used and improve it.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising. We use a few services to run the site, and they process data for us:

• Vercel, to host the website.
• Supabase, for our database, where the data above is stored.
• Beehiiv, planned, to send the newsletter. We'll update this page when it goes live.
• X and Google, only if you choose to sign in with them.

These providers may process data in the United States or other countries. We may also share information if the law requires it.

Cookies and embedded content

We keep cookies to a minimum. We may use small files that the site needs to work, such as remembering your language or keeping you signed in once accounts launch, and your saved tools may be stored in your own browser.

Some pages embed X posts and YouTube videos. When they load, X and Google (YouTube) may set their own cookies and collect data about you, under their own policies. We don't control that. You can block third-party cookies in your browser settings.

Analytics

We don't use analytics tools right now. We may add a privacy-minded analytics service later, and if we do, we'll say so here.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it for the reasons above. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask us to delete your data whenever you like.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• show you the personal data we hold about you,
• correct it,
• delete it,
• stop using it, or give it back to you in a portable format,
• withdraw your consent at any time (for example, unsubscribe).

This is what the GDPR (EU and UK), the LGPD (Brazil) and the CCPA (California) give you, and we apply it to everyone. We won't treat you differently for asking. To make a request, use our contact form. We may need to confirm it's really you. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

howai.si is not meant for children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). If you think a child has sent us their data, tell us and we'll delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no website can promise perfect security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll make it obvious on the site.
